Who We Are
Reset and Recover Halton CIC – built in Halton, by people who have lived it.
Reset and Recover Halton CIC is a Community Interest Company based in Halton, serving Widnes, Runcorn, and the surrounding areas of Cheshire, Merseyside, and North Wales. We provide structured, trauma-informed addiction recovery support for individuals and for the families around them.
We exist because this kind of support did not exist in the area. The people who founded us had to travel outside Halton to get the help they needed – so they built it here, close to home, for their own community.
How Reset and Recover Halton CIC came to be formed
Reset and Recover did not start in a boardroom. It started with recovery.
Our founders came to this work through their own experiences of addiction, mental health struggles, and the long road back. Between them they bring well over a decade of lived experience and the practical, hard-earned knowledge of what actually helps a person change, and what does not. They began meeting and supporting others in Halton, and as the group grew it became clear the community needed something structured, accountable, and built to last.
That ongoing work is now formally constituted as Reset and Recover Halton CIC, a Community Interest Company limited by guarantee. Becoming a CIC was a deliberate step: it means the organisation is asset-locked and run for community benefit, not private profit, with its work overseen by a board of directors and reported on publicly each year. The meetings, the programme, and the people behind them carry on exactly as before, now on a footing built to last.
Our directors
Reset and Recover Halton CIC is led by a board of four directors who combine lived experience with the practical skills to run an organisation well.
- Scott Price – Founding director. Scott leads our recovery sessions, drawing on lived experience and the principles of Addictive Voice Recognition Technique (AVRT).
- Eoin Dunlop – Founding director. Eoin draws on his own lived experience of recovery to support others through their first steps and beyond.
- Luke Conlon – Founding director. Luke draws on years of lived experience in recovery to mentor others and help them build lasting change.
- David Dempsey – Founding director. Responsible for governance, structure, and the organisation’s digital tools and systems.
What we do
Our lived-experience-led programme, Reset & Recover, surrounds members with practical, consistent support. It includes:
- Weekly recovery meetings – a consistent, structured space where members share progress, learn practical tools, and stay accountable, building routine and long-term change.
- Recovery walks – walk-and-talk sessions that pair movement with conversation to lift mood, reduce stress, build confidence, and strengthen peer connections.
- Peer support between sessions – ongoing access to a network of people with lived experience, so members can manage difficult moments in real time and stay on track.
- One-to-one coaching and guidance – personalised support around each person’s triggers and goals, building self-awareness and practical coping strategies.
- Physical training and gym sessions – structured exercise that builds strength and routine and gives members a healthy outlet that supports recovery.
- Family support groups – workshops and group sessions that help families understand addiction and support their loved one while protecting their own wellbeing.
- Healing and wellbeing sessions – breathwork, relaxation, and mindfulness to help members regulate stress, reduce anxiety, and build emotional control.
Our approach is whole-person and trauma-informed. We treat people as individuals, not problems to be managed, and we build support around emotional safety, dignity, and lasting recovery.
How we are run
As a Community Interest Company, we are accountable by design:
- Asset-locked and not-for-private-profit – any surplus is reinvested into our work in Halton.
- Director-led governance – clear accountability at board level for safeguarding, quality, and finances.
- Safeguarding at the centre – a designated safeguarding lead, clear policies, and trauma-informed practice across everything we do.
- Transparent reporting – we report on our community impact each year, as required of every CIC.
